Make Nine 2019: Finished Objects #3 and #4

Make Nine 2019: Finished Objects #3 and #4

Well, I seem to be avoiding the four sweaters I plan on making this year at all cost.  I have now knitted almost all of the accessories I have planned out for my Make Nine collection this year... and finished zero sweaters.

I have two finished objects to share with you today: The Shift by Andrea Mowry and Lucy Sweetland's Emerald Fingerless Mittens.

Every Shift cowl I looked at on Ravelry that I thought was beautiful was inevitably made with Spincycle Yarns. However, I’m on a bit of a yarn budget right now, so I had to find something comparable that would work. I ended up going with the Queensland Collection Rainbow Beach in different shades of… purple!

I am NOT a big purple person, so I was a little uncertain about this project, but I found three different purples at my local yarn shop that went together so perfectly I couldn’t resist. So purple it is. I’m pretty happy with it.

The bobble mittens were a pretty quick knit, and a good way to use up some yarn leftovers. I use the remains from a little pixie hat I made my daughter last year. I don’t know that I’ve ever actually knitted a pattern that called for bobbles before, so this was a bobble education. With this pattern's rapid fire bobbles, I'm feeling like a bit of a bobble master now.

I don’t know why it took me so long to get a sweater started, but I did recently cast on my Clarke Pullover by Jane Richmond. I finished the body and have moved to the sleeves, so I hope to have an updated finished object post on that one soon!
